Canine Rehabilitation Supervisor - University of Georgia - Athens, GA

The University of Georgia is seeking applicants to supervise the rehabilitation service at the new Veterinary Teaching Hospital.  This rehabilitation service will be equipped with a dedicated room for rehabilitation with 2 underwater treadmills, a land treadmill, associated exercise equipment, and modalities such as therapeutic ultrasound, electrical stimulation, cold laser therapy, among other modalities.  There is also an adjoining room designated specifically for objective gait analysis using a pressure sensitive walkway or force plates.  The service treats primarily small animal patients and occasionally exotics. The supervisor will have access and support from numerous faculty members including, but not limited to, one diplomate in the American College of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, four small animal orthopedic surgeons, three small animal general surgeons, three neurologists, two criticalists, four internists and an anesthesiologist with a CCRP certification and certification in accupuncture.    

The rehabilitation supervisor will discuss rehabilitation cases with veterinarians within the VTH and also with referring veterinarians from outside the VTH.  Accordingly, the rehabilitation supervisor will develop and execute treatment plans for patients needing rehabilitation and will provide instruction to students and others as to how to perform rehabilitation.  The supervisor will assist with hiring, training, and supervising other members of the rehabilitation team. This person will have direct contact with clients, VTH veterinarians and referring veterinarians and must have excellent communication skills.  Accordingly, the ideal candidate will have:  

  1.        a CCRP, CCRA, or CCRT certification
  2.        3 years of dedicated experience with canine rehabilitation
  3.        experience and ability to work closely with referring veterinarians and technicians on other services within the VTH
